Job Description

Manage and perform a full range of professional, design/technical tasks for complex projects from concept design through to site construction. Plan, lead and direct the Design Team on Mission Critical Facilities and engineering projects, specifically Data Centres.

Skills, Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Required

RIBA Part III approved qualification/ARB Registration, or equivalent international qualification/certification with 5+ years experience.

  • Experienced in construction of large scale industrial/engineering projects, leading the Design Team & Consultants
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles and practices of related engineering consultants or specialists, providing good co-ordination between all design disciplines
  • Good knowledge of Statutory and contract procedures, including CDM regulations and H&S obligations
  • Competent in the use of 3D BIM/CAD Design (Revit) and other administrative type IT systems is essential

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the preparation of new schemes or adaptations to existing designs. Using drawings (Revit), specifications (NBS create/chorus) and schedules to generate packages for Planning/Building Permitting; Tendering and Construction.

  • Independently able to evaluate, select and apply knowledge of design and construction techniques, traditional or contemporary
  • Undertake client management tasks
  • Co-ordination of teamwork and in maintaining good working relationships, internally and externally
  • Running Client/Design Team and Contractor meetings, document management, and reporting
  • Preparation of Client Briefs, Project Progress, Design Release and other reports
  • Apply product knowledge and practical awareness in the recording, creation and application of solutions appropriate to design development
  • Apply experience of design, project management, contract and construction procedures through regular site visits and project monitoring. Fully understand how the contracts/contractors are organised, administered and function to deliver project
  • Be aware of the factors involved in the preparation of project profitability, forecasting and the management of resources. Understand the importance of client fee agreements
  • Maintain Continuing Professional Development by attending relevant training courses and studying appropriate literature

Salary

£46,000 to £51,000

  • Able to supervise junior staff in the execution of specific tasks, and in doing so exercises responsible control over the delegated assignments
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • Good knowledge of contract administration
  • Advanced level in Revit with proficiency in BIM

  • Responsible for finished plans, specifications, or approval of materials and construction in collaboration with the design team
  • Apply sound and diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices in a broad array of assignments
  • Apply product knowledge and practical awareness in the recording, creation and application of solutions appropriate to design development
  • Make sound judgements regarding deviations for standard techniques, procedures and criteria whilst seeking guidance and supervision related to overall objectives, critical issues and policy matter
  • Liaise daily with client, consultants and all members of the project design team
  • Apply a strong work ethic with the ability to work on your own initiative

Salary

£35,000 to £38,000

Responsibilities

  • Leverage the firm’s recognized expertise in select markets to create opportunities in other markets including Research and Development, Advanced Manufacturing and Higher Education.
  • Research, identify and develop relationships with prospective clients that will help the firm achieve its business development goals.
  • Find and track leads for new projects.
  • Work with Principals and marketing staff to develop strategies and marketing material in support of business development activities.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Architecture, or Engineering.
  • At least seven years business development experience in the A/E/C industry, preferably in architecture.

  • Excellent organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Initiative to analyze markets and develop effective strategies for engaging prospective clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that balance persistence, enthusiasm, sincerity and humor
