Art has always been a fundamental element of Dirk’s life and career. Showing artistic ability from a young age, he was first drawn to architecture because of the creativity of design and logic of construction. For nearly four decades, Dirk’s strong problem-solving ability has led to the success of many of the firm’s projects. As a leader of the K-12 portfolio, he oversees the development of initial design ideas into a final product and manages projects throughout all phases. Dirk is a member of the Oak Park School District 97 Facilities Advisory Committee and the Bethesda Home and Retirement Center Past President and Member of the Board of Directors.
Several of Dirk’s drawings are part of the permanent collection at the Art Institute of Chicago.
