Yiran Qiao

Originally from Jiangsu, China, Yiran earned her Bachelor of Architecture from Southeast University in Jiangsu before moving to the U.S. to earn her Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan. In her free time, Yiran enjoys cooking and watching movies after work, especially thrillers that challenge her to put together the clues.

As a designer, Yiran enjoys the opportunity to strengthen the characteristics of a site and being able to find creative solutions to problems through architecture. She appreciates design that makes good use of its surrounding environment, noting Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater as a favorite example.

You can spot Yiran by her round-shaped glasses — channeling the inspiration of architects Philip Johnson and I.M. Pei.
