National Retail Chain
The site’s triangular geometry drove the design approach. Translated into architecture, the shape presents a dynamic statement. The bookstore’s architecture spurred similarly bold developments in what the City designated as a primary redevelopment area. The shape was a challenge for laying out book displays and required close coordination with the bookstore’s professional design staff.
Wrap-around windows give the building a fluid character that mediates the triangular site.

Clean, modern architecture complements Borders’ black and white brand palette.
The precision with which exterior panels, sunscreens and masonry are detailed and coordinated together with the bold, curving glass corner give this relatively modest building an unusual but welcome presence. The architecture’s flush, modern aesthetic provides a complementary backdrop for the national chain’s branding.
