Student Residence Hall Renovation
Community Engagement CenterCentre
This renovation is part of a campus-wide initiative to breathe new life into aging residence halls. It introduces a new concept to the improvement effort—the creation of a community engagement centercentre to help create a neighborhoodneighbourhood feel among adjacent residence halls. The engagement centercentre features both formal and informal group and independent social and learning environments, including a lecture room, kitchen, and prayer room.
Shepard Hall’s engagement centercentre accommodates traditional classroom instruction where students live.

The curved-wall addition consolidates original building entries, gives an old hall a contemporary identity, and integrates the building into an accessible landscape.
Overall improvements include new mechanical systems with air conditioning, new fire protection systems, accessible resident rooms and bathroom facilities, and new student lounge, study and laundry facilities.
