Live Film Tracking Studio
School of Communications
Northwestern’s Film Soundstage design required the precise application of new specialty acoustic finishes and the acoustic isolation of existing mechanical systems. New lighting and audio-visual systems are coordinated to assure proper lighting levels for orchestral performance without interfering with tracking screen viewing.
The soundstage accommodates an orchestra and Foley pit for scoring film.

The project features an acoustically isolated recording room within the acoustically isolated soundstage.
The soundstage adapts an existing studio space to the same technical standards as professional movie studio soundstages, which makes it a unique educational and production resource. Its aesthetics are performance-driven. Black ceilings and a neutral color palette provide a non-distracting background environment.
