Renovation & Expansion

The renovation addresses dysfunctional staff areas by connecting them and creating technology rich work environments to foster interaction between departments. A modest meeting room addition belies other substantial improvements including the addition of a teen space, group study rooms and a new children’s story room that support national trends in library design.

The expansion’s red color reintegrates the Library into the civic fabric of nearby red brick municipal buildings.

The original 1970s Library was added onto twice before.

The red color of the expansion’s exterior integrates the Library into the civic fabric of nearby red brick municipal buildings and echoes agrarian roots—the new red addition considered together with the earlier white modernist addition are an homage to traditional red and white Midwestern barns.
